Summer is here and the high temperatures have arrived. It’s 102F (36C) in California as I type this, but not for me, I’m back in England on holiday/vacation, currently in Brighton where it’s 52F (12C) on July 5th. I’m not joking.
It’s raining with strong wind coming from the West. The English Channel is grey with the grey rain clouds merging on the horizon. It’s typical British summer.
Anyway, while up in Southwell, Nottinghamshire visiting my family, we took the train from Newark Northgate up to York on the East Coast Main Line.
While waiting on the station I spotted a couple of preserved locos sitting on the sidings.
Class 57 – 57 012 in West Coast Railways livery
Class 47 – 47 815 “Great Western”
York station is such a great example of railway engineering.
On a later trip when we were down in London, we took a trip to Brighton. I do miss the public transport in the UK.
Tube from Oxford Circus to Farringdon, then the Thameslink service to Brighton. Of course, it was raining for most of the time.
I’m always fascinated when I look at pictures of railway lineside infrastructure of just how much crap there is lying about. Who would think of modeling a plastic chair next to the rails? (look closely below)
..and forget nice neat straight cables, our models are way too pretty.
As you can see, there is not much modeling this month. I’ll leave you with a pic of something I’m just finishing from the 3D printer.
