General Update – November 2013

Where is this year going to?
Earlier this year I commented on how Union Pacific were going to move the Big Boy 4014 from the museum in Pomona, CA to Cheyenne, WY to be restored to mainline use.

Well, they are underway. Click here to see the latest. http://www.railgiants.org/union-pacific-big-boy-4014.htm  They are quoting only 4 years to restore. I guess the dry California climate where it has been stored has a lot to do with that.

Other news, still no progress on the layout. Too many other things taking up my time at the moment. I take my hat off to anyone who has a young family and manages to work on their layout… I don’t seem to be able to do it.

I’m eagerly awaiting the release of the Heljan OO Beyer Garratt model that I’ve had on order from Hattons for nearly a year.  Link here if anyone is interested.

Beyer Garratt

It was meant to be released in November this year, but has been pushed back to January 2014.  That thing is going to be a monster.

I managed to track down the links to some photos that were on my old website. I’ve re-listed them here if anyone is interested.
